Prayagraj bizman held with counterfeit goods worth lakhs
PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 9 -- A businessman was arrested on Saturday, after counterfeit goods of several branded companies worth several lakhs were seized from his warehouse in Ganga Vihar Colony in Phaphamau, on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Pankaj Kesarwani, a resident of Purani Gali.
During interrogation, he revealed that he, along with Gopalchandra Kesarwani and Mukeshchandra Kesarwani of Lahti Bazaar, had been involved in selling counterfeit goods using wrappers of branded companies. SHO of Phaphamau police station, Ashwani Singh, said that a named FIR has been registered against all three accused. While Pankaj Kesarwani has been arrested, efforts are ongoing to trace the other two accused, he added.According to reports, Devendra Singh, a resident of Nariman Point, Mumbai, and representative of EIPR India Private Limited, a company that gathers information on branded food products, filed the FIR.
In his complaint, he stated that several reports had been received in recent days about counterfeit goods being sold under the names of branded companies. To investigate the matter, company representatives Devendra Singh and Piyush, along with Phaphamau police, conducted a raid on businessman Pankaj Kesarwani's warehouse in Ganga Vihar Colony, Shantipuram, Prayagraj, on Friday.
A large quantity of counterfeit goods packaged under the names of branded companies such as Anik Ghee, Hindustan Unilever, Surf, Taaza Tea, ITC, Head & Shoulders Shampoo, Harpic, Nescafe, Tata Tea and Salt, Colgate, Godrej, Fevikwik, Maggi, Dettol, and Rin, among others, was recovered from the warehouse. In addition, five packing machines, a sack sewing machine, three electronic weighing scales, and other related materials were also found on the premises....
