LUCKNOW, Sept. 14 -- Praveen Garg has been unanimously elected as the national president of the Vovinam Association of India for the 2025-2029 term. Elections were held during the 14th National Vovinam Martial Arts Championship at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. Shankar Mahabale from Maharashtra was elected as general secretary. Former president Dr Vishnu Sahay was named founder chairman. Vice presidents elected include Sanal Kumar (Kerala), Sita Lakshmi Ganeshan (Tamil Nadu), Pappu Khan (Assam), Mir Wahaj Ali Khan (Telangana), and Hitesh Parmar (Gujarat). Deven Moirangtham (Manipur) was chosen as technical director. Joint secretaries elected were Ranjan Haldar (West Bengal), Vikas Sharma (Rajasthan),Kamlesh Dewangan (Chhattisgarh), and Vinod Lakhera (Uttarakhand). States including Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, and UP proposed to host the next national championship.
