Pratapgarh SI suspended over harassment, rape and blackmail allegations
PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 24 -- A sub-inspector posted at Kohandaur police station of Pratapgarh has been suspended following allegations of harassment, blackmail, and rape by a woman from Jhansi.
The complainant, a woman from Jhansi, approached the police on Monday evening, alleging that the sub-inspector Sujeet Yadav, a 2023-batch sub-inspector from Ghazipur, had been in a relationship with her for several years. She stated that they had met during their studies and grown close, with Yadav reportedly promising to marry her and engaging in a physical relationship based on that assurance. However, she claimed that he later refused to marry her and began avoiding her.
Following her complaint, trainee IPS officer and CO (City) Prashant Raj Hooda referred the case to the women's police station and ordered an inquiry. During the investigation, the allegations were found to be credible. Based on the findings, superintendent of police Deepak Bhuker suspended Sujeet Kumar Yadav with immediate effect and transferred him to the police lines.
On Tuesday, the victim recorded her statement at the CO office as part of the ongoing investigation, officials shared.
"After receiving the complaint, a thorough inquiry was conducted, and the allegations were found to be true. Consequently, the SP ordered his suspension. A case is being registered at the women's police station, and strict action will be taken against the accused officer," said Prashant Raj Hooda, CO (City), Pratapgarh....
