Pratapgarh DM orders seizure of ill-gotten property worth Rs 82L
PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 14 -- The district magistrate, Pratapgarh, has ordered confiscation of property worth Rs 82 lakh of Raju Yadav, alias Rajiv Yadav. Action has been initiated now in the case registered 18 years ago under the Gangsters' Act, in Sangramgarh police station.
Yadav, a resident of Gotni village under the Manikpur police station area, has 16 cases including murder, Goonda Act, Arms Act, Gangsters' Act registered against him in Manikpur, Sangramgarh police station in Pratapgarh. A case under Gangsters' Act was registered against Raju Yadav in 2008 in which he was declared a gang leader. Since then he has been absconding.
In a dramatic turn of events late Friday night, police in the Trans Yamuna zone of Prayagraj arrested three wanted criminals in two separate encounters. All three were injured by police gunfire and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital. Authorities recovered illegal arms and ammunition from their possession. In one encounter near Bandh Road, close to the New Yamuna Bridge, a joint team from Naini Police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) arrested Umashankar Jaiswal and Santosh Kumar Rawat. Both were wanted in connection with a recent chain-snatching case.
In a separate operation, police arrested Anubhav alias Ishu Rawat after an encounter near Hitech City in Sadwa under Industrial Area Police Station limits. During interrogation, Anubhav confessed to multiple incidents of theft and robbery.
The managing director of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd on Saturday suspended a sub-divisional officer (SDO) and a junior engineer (JE) for laxity that led to the death of a contractual lineman of Pratapgarh's Hathigawan electricity substation a couple of days ago, said executive engineer Sandeep Kumar Maurya.
Earlier on Friday, sub-station operator (SSO) Vikram Singh was placed under suspension for negligence in connection with Thursday's incident. On Saturday, JE Aftab Ahmed of Hathigawan power substation and Kunda SDO Vijay Kumar Kanaujia were suspended.
As per reports, contractual lineman Ram Murat Vishwakarma of Mohaddinagar village under Hathigawan police station was directed to work on the feeder pole on September 11 afternoon.
Murat climbed the pole and started working after the power supply shut down. It is alleged that in the meantime, the SSO switched on the power supply....
