Pratapgarh court on alert after bomb threat email scare
PRAYAGRAJ, April 2 -- A bomb threat email, allegedly circulated to multiple courts across districts, triggered panic at the civil court in Pratapgarh on Wednesday morning. This prompted an immediate security alert before authorities traced its origin outside Uttar Pradesh.
The alert followed a communication from the district Judge to the superintendent of Police. Afterward, Shailendra Lal, additional SP (East) and Prashant Raj Hooda, circle officer (city), reached the court complex with a police team and conducted a thorough inspection.
Court staff reportedly found the threatening email when they reported for duty in the morning, leading to tightened security at all entry points. Police personnel were deployed in large numbers and movement within the premises was monitored closely as a precautionary measure.
Officials said the situation was reviewed in detail and no suspicious object was found during the search operation. Initial panic eased after investigators found that the email did not specifically mention Pratapgarh.
Deepak Bhukar, superintendent of police, said the message, allegedly sent in the name of the "Tamil Tigers", was intended for a court in Tamil Nadu and had been circulated to several recipients, causing confusion.
