Lucknow, May 26 -- The Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti on Sunday assured that consumers, especially those dependent on essential services like hospitals, railways and drinking water supply, would not face any disruption due to the ongoing agitation against privatisation in the power sector. The Samiti has given a call for a statewide indefinite strike from May 29 even as the government has also made arrangements to deal with the possible power disruptions due to the proposed strike. The Samiti, in a press statement, accused the UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) management of trying to create an artificial atmosphere of strike during peak summer despite the fact that no strike notice had been issued by the union.
