Power supply hit in several areas of Lucknow after rain
Lucknow, Nov. 1 -- A spell of light rain and gusty winds on Thursday night and Friday evening threw Lucknow's power supply system into disarray, leaving several parts of the city in darkness for hours.
Faults in underground cables, feeder problems, and line breakdowns were reported from multiple locations, including Gomti Nagar, Chinhat, Purania, and rural areas such as Malihabad, Mohanlalganj, and Nigohan. The outages also led to a temporary water crisis in several localities.
At the Vikasnagar substation, a major cable fault occurred in Khurramnagar, disrupting power supply for nearly four hours.
Residents in Gomti Nagar's Vinay Khand, Vivek Khand, and Vibhuti Khand areas also faced prolonged outages due to feeder trips and transformer issues on Thursday night and even on Friday noon.
In Bansmandi, under the GTI substation, a stray animal died after coming in contact with a live transformer, prompting residents to allege departmental negligence. At the Ahibaranpur substation, power was disrupted when a monkey touched an LT line on Friday evening.
Rain caused tripping at the 220 kV Hardoi Road-Dubagga substation, leading to a three-hour outage. Kabir Nagar, Kakori, and areas linked to the Shakuntala Mishra and Naka feeders also faced power cuts due to faults.
