Power dept installs over 1,200 smart metres in govt buildings
Prayagraj, June 1 -- The power corporation has completed 90% of the work of installing smart electricity metres in government establishments in Sangam city, including schools, hospitals, primary health centres, police stations, police outposts, government department buildings, etc. The monthly billing of these smart meters has also commenced, leading to a rise in accurate revenue generation for the department.
According to chief engineer (distribution), Prayagraj Zone, Pramod Kumar Singh, the work of installation of smart metres in government buildings in Sangam city is nearing completion.
"Around 1,200 smart metres have already been installed in government buildings, including schools, Anganwadi centres, hospitals, community health centres, primary health centres, police stations, police outposts, post offices, primary and secondary schools, besides buildings of different government departments, etc. The work, which started in January this year, was scheduled to be completed by April 30. However, owing to delays caused by different factors including availability of smart metres and closure of government buildings on holidays including weekends, the same got extended by a month," informed the chief engineer.
Presently, 21 police stations, besides nearly 46 police outposts, are functioning without electricity metres....
