LUCKNOW, July 16 -- Widespread power outages have disrupted normal life in several parts of Lucknow over the past two days, with even VIP areas like Gomti Nagar plunging into darkness for more than two hours on Monday night due to failure of transmission substation. The disruption halted electricity supply to several key areas including Vibhuti Khand, Vishwas Khand, Vipin Khand, and Bhikhampur, with surrounding areas like Vinay Khand, Vivek Khand and Paper Mill Colony also affected. LESA staff managed to partially restore supply using alternative sources, but the incident underscored the fragile state of the city's power infrastructure. In Old City areas such as Faizullaganj, Daudnagar and Ahibaranpur, residents are grappling with prolonged power cuts lasting five to six hours each day. In commercial hubs like Aminabad and Chowk, traders are increasingly relying on inverters and generators to keep their businesses running amid frequent disruptions. Other areas also witnessed prolonged outages due to technical failures on Monday. A jumper on the 33 kv Jehta-Daudnagar line was damaged, resulting in a three-hour blackout. Residents in Hariom Nagar experienced a five-hour outage after damage to the ABC cable. Bhikhampur faced a two-hour supply interruption, while a damaged cable on the 33 kv Khurram Nagar line under the GSI power station led to a five-hour power cut....
