Ahmedabad, July 10 -- Union home minister Amit Shah said on Wednesday that after retiring from politics, he plans to devote his time to the Vedas, Upanishads and natural farming. Shah was addressing a group of women from the cooperative sectors of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan at the "Sahkar Samvad" programme in Ahmedabad. The closed-door programme, organised as part of events under the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, was held on July 5 and a PIB statement was issued on Wednesday. "When I retire, I will spend my time among the Vedas, Upanishads and natural farming. I have done it (natural farming) in my own fields and the production increased by almost one-and-a-half times," he said, as he credited the method for improving health, preserving soil and water, and increasing agricultural output. "Food grown this way keeps people away from medicines and doctors. Earthworms do the same work as urea, DAP and MPK. The land remains healthy, water is conserved and people stay healthy," he said. He also mentioned the cooperative university in Anand, days after he laid the foundation stone for the construction, and said that it has been dedicated to Tribhuvandas Patel, who laid the foundation of the cooperative movement....
