Lucknow, July 23 -- After directives from the deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak, the functioning of the post-mortem house in Lucknow has improved appreciably. Bodies are now being handed over to relatives after the post-mortem examination within four hours and no money is being charged for the videography during the exam, stated authorities on Tuesday. Additional chief medical officer (ACMO), also the nodal officer of the post-mortem house, Dr Gopilal Gupta, stated that now postmortem examinations are being done round the clock. On an average, 20 examinations are being performed per day, Dr Gupta said. He said that following discussions with the CMO, the post-mortem house is set to provide a plastic sheet to cover the body after the examination and also a cloth shroud. These basic necessities are set to be given soon. He further stated that some post-mortem examinations are being done after sunset. To make proceedings easy, extra computer operators have been appointed who work in two shifts. Beds and sofas are being arranged to facilitate the doctors and other staff workers as they now work round the clock. Water coolers and air coolers are being placed on the premises for bereaved families; seating arrangements have also been made by providing chairs and construction of cement benches, he added. Earlier, family members of the deceased had to wait the whole day outside the post-mortem house to receive the body after the examination. They also had to buy bottles of drinking water from outside and suffer in adverse weather. MedLEaPR portal training is also being provided to doctors, which makes it easy to upload the post-mortem examination report online. The MedLEaPR portal is a web-based application designed to streamline the process of generating and managing medico-legal examination and post-mortem reports (MLC and PMR). It aims to standardise and digitise reports, enhancing accuracy, security, and efficiency in forensic medical reporting. htc...
