LUCKNOW, Jan. 3 -- A political satire, 'Hatt Teri Kismat' which is originally written in Marathi by playwright Vijay Tendulkar, was staged by the Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA) at their Balraj Sahni Auditorium on Friday to commemorate the 38th death anniversary of Safdar Hashmi, a political theatre artist and writer. Safdar died of injuries he endured during an attack on him while performing the street play 'Halla Bol' in 1989. The play was directed by Ziya Khan and Shishir Singh. It revolved around a 'chief minister' (Udai Veer Singh Yadav) and a 'clerk' (Ziya Ahmad Khan). The 'CM' was known for his corrupt practices, while the 'clerk' was a common man. The two meet by chance and begin discussing their lives. Their lives take a turn when the 'CM' learns that an angry mob is planning his assassination. To save his own life, he decides to swap clothes with the common man. As they change, their faces also change. The CM's party subsequently accepts the clerk as the chief minister and reinstates him as per the high command's orders. The audience was left enthralled by the play....
