Police: Non-veg food leftovers found in water tank, 6 booked
Rudrapur, March 27 -- Police have booked six people for allegedly throwing remains of non-vegetarian food of a prohibited animal into the wall chamber of a water tank in Jaspur in Udham Singh Nagar district, police said on Thursday.
According to police, the case was registered after a complaint by a local resident who alleged that the accused had polluted the water source used by villagers for religious purposes.
Inder Singh, investigating officer at Jaspur Police Station, said, "We are investigating the allegations after an FIR was lodged against six persons for allegedly polluting the water tank. Action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation," he said.
The complainant, Dharm Singh, a resident of Amiyawala village under the Jaspur police station limits, alleged that Mohammad Shahnawaz, the pump operator at the village water head tank, had thrown remains of non-vegetarian food into the wall chamber of the tank.
Singh further alleged that when he objected to the act, the pump operator threatened him. He also claimed that on March 19, the first day of Navratri, he went to the water tank around 4 am to release water for ritual bathing but the pump operator refused to switch on the motor....
