Haridwar, Oct. 14 -- Haridwar police have constituted a joint team, including members of the Crime Investigation Unit, to trace and arrest a resident who allegedly decamped with Rs.28 lakh in cash and other valuables from an ashram in Jagjeetpur. The incident has created a stir among the local community. According to Mahamandaleshwar Swami Yamuna Puri Maharaj of the Kankhal-based Mahamrityunjay Muth, the accused, identified as Swami Vairagya Puri, formerly Vikas Singhal, a resident of Hastinapur in Uttar Pradesh, is suspected of fleeing with the money and valuables from the Jagjeetpur ashram on October 11.
