LUCKNOW, Nov. 24 -- Lucknow police have seized property worth Rs.1.55 crore and an SUV belonging to three men who allegedly formed a gang and extorted money from people, amassing assets worth several lakh, officials said on Sunday. According to Lucknow police, Shivendra Singh Chauhan, 40, a resident of Janki Vihar Colony in Jankipuram, has several cases registered against him at Madiaon and other police stations. Shivendra is the gang leader and has 10 criminal cases registered against him at the Aliganj and BKT (Bakshi Ka Talab) police stations in Lucknow since 2023. Chauhan took to crime in 2023 and, along with other members, formed an organised gang and began extorting money, accumulating wealth worth over Rs 57 lakh, officials said, adding the seizure was made on Saturday. Similarly, property acquired by Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Radhapuram Colony in Kanchanpur Matiyari, was confiscated on Friday. Kuldeep Singh, along with his gang members, faces numerous charges of murder, destruction of evidence, and fraud in various districts. These cases have been filed since 2010, officials said. Kuldeep committed crimes for financial and material gains and acquired property, with the proceeds from crime, worth over Rs 98 lakh, they added. An SUV was seized during a seizure action against Vishal Yadav alias Dharam Singh Yadav, near the Shiv Mandir in Jarhara village of Indira Nagar on Saturday.
