Police probe post on SP MLA Pooja Pal, FIR lodged
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 19 -- Police are investigating the whereabouts of the owner of an X account, Umesh Yadav, in the case of a post on the social media platform, carrying indecent comments on expelled SP MLA Pooja Pal.
An FIR was registered at Colonelganj police station on Saturday night by the MLA's lawyer against the comment.
According to senior officials, investigations were being carried out to ascertain the details of the owner of the account after which action would be initiated.
Even after 48 hours of the case lodged in Coloneganj police station, the police was clueless about the details of the culprit.
An FIR against X user, Umesh Yadav, was lodged under different sections of BNS including, sections 79, 356(2), 353(2) besides section 66 of IT Act.
According to the complaint, Umesh Yadav had made indecent comments on MLA Pooja Pal which had hurt the sentiments of Pal, Garedia, Dhangar and Charwaha community. An attempt has also been made to tarnish the image of the woman MLA in the post.
DCP (City) Abhishek Bharti said that an FIR had been lodged against the X user and efforts are on to identify him. According to Bharti, the cyber cell police had sent an email to the X team seeking the details of Umesh Yadav.
