Police look for man who shot at stray dog in Lucknow; FIR lodged
Lucknow, Jan. 12 -- Lucknow Police here registered a FIR against an unidentified man who shot at a stray dog on Mohan Road here on Friday. The FIR was lodged on the complaint of an animal welfare organisation, AASRA.
As per the complaint submitted at Para police station on January 9, an unidentified person allegedly opened fire with a double-barrel gun at a stray dog with the intent to kill it. The animal sustained serious gunshot injuries and was currently undergoing treatment at a veterinary hospital.
The complaint stated that the incident occurred in a public place, posing a grave threat not only to animals but also to public safety.
The complaint was filed by Charu Khare, the founder of the trust. Police officials confirmed that the complaint was received at Para police station and formally registered on January 10, following orders of the station in-charge Suresh Singh.
"An investigation is underway to identify the accused, trace the firearm involved, and determine whether the weapon was licensed," an official added. Police said strict action would be taken based on evidence gathered during the probe....
