AGRA, Sept. 26 -- A police constable from Saiyyan police station in Agra, who had resumed duty just five days earlier after being previously sent to the police lines, was arrested and sent to jail along with two others for abducting a man and making ransom calls demanding his release. The ransom attempt was foiled, leading to the arrest and sent to jail. A kidnapping-for-ransom complaint was registered against unidentified people at New Agra Police station under Agra Police Commissionerate on Wednesday by Kushal Singh. He alleged that his 18-year-old brother, Harshvardhan Singh, went to the market on September 22 but never returned, and his phone was unreachable when attempts were made to contact him. Subsequently, a ransom call demanding Rs 5 lakh was received from an unknown caller, who threatened that Harshvardhan Singh would be sent to jail if the money was not paid. The matter was reported to the police, and assistant commissioner of police Akshay Mahadik set a trap.
