Agra, Nov. 4 -- What looked like a routine gathering of senior citizens at the Police Lines in Aligarh on Monday had an unusual twist - 58 of those present were former history-sheeters who had not committed any crime in the past two to three decades. In a bold move, Aligarh SSP Neeraj Kumar Jadaun ordered the closure of history sheets for 130 such individuals, all above 70 years of age. "Police visits to the homes of these elderly history-sheeters often create awkward moments for their children and grandchildren, who have done no wrong," said SSP Jadaun. "We decided to close their history sheets, and 58 of them came forward to assure us that they would remain law-abiding and even assist police in their localities," the SSP added....
