PMC set to turn four Civil Lines wards into model wards
PRAYAGRAJ, June 12 -- The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) is preparing to make four wards in the Civil Lines area into model wards. As part of the initiative, the PMC will provide ideal urban facilities in all the four wards like smart parking, improved plantation, installation of water coolers, installing better equipment in open air gyms, improved lighting, etc. Also, efforts are being made to ensure that the wet garbage of 100% houses of the four wards is not disposed of on the roadside.
The four municipal wards selected for the initiative are Civil Lines-1, Civil Lines-2, Nyay Marg and Ashok Nagar.
Assistant municipal commissioner Deepshikha Pandey said that in the past two weeks, the amount of wet garbage from the selected four wards had increased from four metric tons to eight metric tons per day.
After the appeal made by the PMC officials, wet garbage was now being easily collected from houses on the banks of the Ganga. However, still many apartments and hotels in the ward were not cooperating with the PMC. "If there is no improvement even after repeated requests, stringent action would be taken against such people," she added. In the last few days, the team of PMC had requested the residents of 74 apartments besides management of hotels in the area to hand over wet garbage to PMC's garbage collection vehicles. However, of the total 74 apartments and hotels, 23 apartments and hotels still continued to dispose of wet garbage on the roadside....
