PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 13 -- The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to realise unpaid house tax dues from owners of buildings in city limits, which have been pending for nearly a decade now. These defaulters fall in both the commercial as well as domestic category, According to reports, in the commercial and domestic category, 2.36 lakh buildings existed on the records of PMC in its 80 wards. Further, around 1.79 lakh buildings exist in the recently added 20 new wards of the Corporation. Of the total count of buildings, the PMC has prepared a list of around 45,000 buildings, whose house tax had not been paid for nearly a decade and whose owners will soon be sent a legal notice. Of the identified buildings with unpaid dues, nearly 200 buildings are commercial establishments whose dues have remained unpaid for nearly a decade. Of these commercial establishments, which largely are located in prominent localities of the city, some have unpaid dues of around Rs 2 lakh while some have unpaid house tax of around Rs 7 lakh.htc...
