PMC, Jalkal budget passed with partial amendments
PRAYAGRAJ, May 18 -- The budget of the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Jalkal department's budget of Rs 2,558 crore was passed with partial amendments on Friday.
In the meeting held in the hall of the new building of the PMC, the corporation's budget of Rs 2335.60 crore was passed for the financial year 2025-26 along with other budgetary allocation including Jalkal department's budget of Rs 22 crore.
In the meeting held under the chairmanship of mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani, municipal corporation's chief finance officer (CFO) RK Sharma and Jalkal department's accountant Sujit Kumar presented separate budgets.
Firstly, the PMC's budget was passed. Before passing the budget for the financial year 2025-26, the revised budget was discussed in the House wherein partial amendments were made.
In the beginning of the meeting, corporator Akash Sonkar and others protested with banners against the house tax scam.
During the discussion on the budget, many development schemes for the city were also given the green signal. Municipal commissioner Seelam Sai Teja participated in the House meeting for the first time.
The House approved many such development schemes, which the PMC executive had approved on March 27.
The development works which received approval in the meeting include construction of the multipurpose stadium in the city, lighting in the extended area of the city, lighting on Ganga Path, lighting system at Dhobi Ghat, parking at three places, including Moti Park, and the construction of a multispecialty hospital in two years.
Senior PMC officials who attended the meeting include additional municipal commissioner Dipendra Yadav, Ambrish Kumar Bind, Arvind Rai, chief engineer (electricity) Sanjay Katiyar, chief engineer (civil) Anil Kumar Maurya, chief tax officer (CTO) PK Dwivedi, general manager of Jalkal department Kumar Gaurav, etc....
