PM to launch 2 crop schemes tomorrow
India, Oct. 10 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch two schemes on October 11 to ramp up output of pulses and modernise agriculture in 100 disadvantaged districts, programmes aimed at ending reliance on imports of some food items and raising overall yields, Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Thursday. The key objectives of the schemes, both of which were approved by the Cabinet, is to ensure self-sufficiency and improve agricultural productivity and incomes, the minister said.
