PM Modi has infused new energy into players: Dy CM Pathak
VARANASI, Jan. 5 -- Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has infused a new energy into the country's players. He also said the country where players excel moves towards the pinnacle of success. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the 72nd Senior National Volleyball Championship at Dr Sampurnanand Sports Complex here, he said after 2014, PM Modi ushered in a new era of development for sports in the country.
"The budget for all sports has been increased manifold. Earlier, sports were just a formality," Pathak added. He also mentioned the development schemes of the central and state governments. The deputy CM advised players to also show the spirit of sportsmanship on field.
Pathak said the PM himself talks to the players on their return after participation in Olympics, Commonwealth and Asian Games or any major competition, sending a message to the world that these players are members of our family. No stone will be left unturned in honouring them.
He further said the Yogi government is giving direct appointments to players in high positions. "Indian players have a dominant presence all over the world," deputy CM added. htc...
