VARANASI, Oct. 15 -- A court in Varanasi on Monday heard a plea seeking an order to change the worn out cloth on the locks of the sealed wazukhana of Gyanvapi mosque complex and fixed October 24 as the next date of hearing. In August, UP government's special counsel for Shringar Gauri-Gyanvapi case, advocate Rajesh Mishra, on behalf of Varanasi administration, filed the plea urging the court that the cloth on the locks at the sealed wazukhana of Gyanvapi had worned out and it was important to replace it. He said the hearing took place in the court of district judge Sanjeev Shukla. Counsel for the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee (AIMC) Akhlaque Ahmad and Raees Ansari objected to the plea. Ahmad argued, "We urged the court that the plea should be dismissed. The door is locked. There is cloth on the locks. The wuzukhana (ablution pond) was sealed at the order of the Supreme Court. Therefore, no order can be passed on this matter by the court here." He added, "Only the Supreme Court can issue an order on any matter related to the wazukhana. Therefore, the plea is not maintainable." Ahmad said the court of district kudge Sanjeev Shukla fixed October 24 as the next date of hearing in the matter....
