PRAYAGRAJ, May 19 -- Comedy play Dulha Bhai, staged by Vinod Rastogi Smriti Sansthan-Prayagraj at Ravindralay auditorium under the direction of Ajay Mukherjee, was enjoyed with thunderous laughter on Sunday. The original Marathi play by Padmakar Daware was skilfully adapted by Gangadhar Paranjapey, and the artists justified their presence on stage through swift movements, humorous dialogue delivery, and quick actions and reactions. The story revolved around a middle-class family of husband, wife and a marriageable-aged daughter. Both the parents invite prospective grooms to visit for the daughter's marriage, and both arrive at the same time with their sons. The situation turns tense for the family, but the developments to counter the confusion create hilarious moments that continuously tickled the audience and compelled them to laugh aloud. The actors included Abhilash Narain, Nivedita Dasgupta, Ashu, Tushar Maurya, Madhurima Bose, Prakeek K Singh, Gajendra Yadav, Shubham Srivastava and Anuj Kumar. Backstage support was provided by Sujoy Ghoshal (lights), Subham Verma and Divyansh Raj Gupta (music), while the play was produced by Alok Rastogi. A book containing two blank verse plays, penned by renowned writer, director, actor and AIR drama producer Vinod Rastogi, titled Suniye Dronacharya and Aparajita, was released on the occasion by former programme officer of North Central Zone Cultural Centre, Kalpana Sahay.
