India, April 19 -- P iracy continues to remain a concern for the Indian film industry, with even big-ticket releases falling victim to online leaks. Trade experts say this is affecting not just box office performance but also digital deals. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala says, "When a movie gets leaked, you have to release it as soon as you can. Opening day, and even OTT deals, get affected. Almost 50% of business is impacted. It is a loss in all streams theatrical, satellite, OTT." He adds, "The post release takes away 20-30% of the theatrical revenue. The minimum loss is in crores, depending on the movie's budget. Loss can only be estimated, you can never know how many people have watched the pirated version."...
