LUCKNOW, May 12 -- To curb increasing cybercrime cases against women, a three-day training workshop for pink booth officers (PBOs) was conducted by the Lucknow police commissionerate. The aim of the workshop, which was held at the police lines and concluded on Sunday, was to strengthen the city's cybercrime response framework through frontline empowerment. "On day 1, 23 PBOs from the central zone received hands-on training on the Cyber Fraud Online Portal and Sanchar Sathi Portal. Cybercrime expert Gautam Mishra conducted the session, offering practical demonstrations and walkthroughs of real-time complaint registration, digital evidence handling, and data privacy protocols. Topics like identifying and reporting online financial fraud, phishing, and impersonation, ensuring victim anonymity and secure evidence collection, using digital platforms to expedite investigation processes were covered," police said in an official statement. This initiative falls under the broader 'Women Safety, Prosperity Guaranteed' mission, which seeks to create a safer environment for women both offline and online by modernising pink booths and enhancing officer preparedness. "With the surge in cyber offences such as online stalking, financial fraud, phishing, and identity theft, especially against women, there's a growing need for officers who are both technically equipped and sensitive to the needs of victims," DCP (crime) Kamlesh Kr Dixit said....
