Pilibhit couple found dead in bathroom
Meerut, Dec. 23 -- In Gurukulpuram locality under the Kotwali police station area of Pilibhit district, the bodies of a husband and wife were found inside the bathroom of their rented house late on Sunday night. The couple died of asphyxiation caused by carbon monoxide accumulated in the closed bathroom, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Harjinder Singh, 42, and his wife, Renu Saxena, 40. Harjinder was employed as a Class-IV staff member with the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA).
According to the police, the incident came to light when a neighbour noticed clothes lying on the terrace in the evening and tried calling Renu, but received no response. Subsequently, calls were made to Harjinder as well, but his phone also went unanswered. Suspecting something amiss, the neighbour alerted the police.
When the Kotwali police reached the spot, they found the bathroom door locked from the inside. With the help of the forensic team, the door was broken open. Both Harjinder and Renu were found dead inside the bathroom. Police said Harjinder was fully dressed and wearing shoes, while his wife was found without clothes. A geyser and a gas cylinder were installed inside the bathroom.
Police further noted that Renu had a fracture in her left hand, which was in a plaster cast. Based on this, it is suspected that Harjinder may have been assisting his wife during a bath when gas leakage from the geyser led to oxygen depletion, leading to suffocation and the death of both.htc...
