PIL won't halt demolition process of Lko's old family court building: HC
lucknow, June 20 -- The Allahabad high court's Lucknow bench has clarified that the pendency of a public interest litigation (PIL) will not come in the way of the proposal for demolition of the old family court building in Kaiserbagh, Lucknow.
The order came from a vacation bench comprising Justice AR Masoodi and Justice Subhash Vidyarthi on Wednesday, while hearing a PIL filed by social activist Gautam Bharati, who has opposed the proposed demolition and called for cancellation of the auction process for razing the existing structure.
During the hearing, the counsel representing the high court administration informed the court that a temporary arrangement has already been set up near the previous building to ensure the functioning of the family court continues uninterrupted during the construction phase.
Earlier, on June 12, the bench had directed Lucknow divisional commissioner and the counsel for the Union of India to submit affidavits (reply) regarding the process followed for issuing an NOC or license under Section 20-C of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958.
