Pickup hits bike, youth dies after being dragged for 20 metres
PRAYAGRAJ, July 11 -- A youth died on the spot and another sustained injuries after a speeding pickup hit their bike and dragged them for around 20 metres. The incident took place near Sikandarpur Bajha village in Sandipan Ghat police station area. Raju ,20, a resident of Kashiya West village under Kokhraj police station, was returning from Puramufti with his 14-year-old neighbour Ravi on a motorbike.
A pickup coming from behind hit their bike. The vehicle did not stop and dragged the bike and both youths for about 20 metres. Passers-by shouted for help, but the driver fled. SHO Mahesh Chandra of Kokhraj police station reached the spot and took the injured to Muratganj PHC. Raju was declared dead on arrival, while Ravi was referred to the medical college in critical condition.
The body of a youth who had gone to the field to defecate was found hanging from a tree around 200 metres from his house on Thursday morning. Police officials, including SHO Manoj Pandey from Leelapur police station, reached the scene and began an investigation.
According to the family, the youth left home at 9 am saying he was going out to the field. When he did not return, the family began searching for him. They found his body hanging from a rope tied to a tree in a nearby garden. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Police said further action will be taken after the post-mortem report is received.
Four people suffered serious burn injuries after an LPG cylinder leaked and caught fire during a family function in Pratapgarh on Wednesday night. The fire broke out at the home of Phool Chand in Hasanpur village under Kotwali police station area. The incident occurred while food was being cooked.
Those injured while trying to put out the fire include Suresh Kumar,35, Ritesh Kumar,42, Ananya ,12, and Arun Kumar ,23, - all residents of Tiwaripur village in Manikpur. They were taken to a nearby CHC for treatment....
