Pickup carrying devotees overturns, 18 injured
PRAYAGRAJ, June 14 -- A pickup vehicle, which had brought devotees from Tikamgarh in Madhya Pradesh to Sangam for bathing, overturned near Fort road crossing on Friday morning.
A total of 18 people were injured in the accident. On receiving information, police took all the injured devotees to Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital (SRNH) for treatment where one of the devotees 60-year-old Charan Prajapati was admitted to ICU as his condition was stated to be critical. DCP (City) Abhishek Bharti also reached the hospital and inquired about the condition of devotees.
As per the injured devotees, prior to the accident, the pickup had hit two bikes after which the angry bikers started chasing the vehicle. In panic, the pickup driver raised the speed causing the vehicle to overturn.
As soon as the accident occurred, passersby rushed to the spot and pulled out all the trapped passengers from the vehicle.
Daraganj police took the injured to SRN Hospital in an ambulance. As per DCP (city) Abhishek Bharti, all the injured were admitted to SRN Hospital and were out of danger while one of the critically injured was admitted in ICU....
