Pick-up driver dies in vehicle crash
LUCKNOW, Dec. 13 -- A pile-up of five vehicles on the Lumbini-Dudhi Road, in Basti district, on Friday morning claimed the life of a pick-up driver and left multiple vehicles severely damaged.
Police have attributed the accident to poor visibility caused by the dense early-morning fog and have urged commuters to drive slowly and use fog lights.
Local police officials said that the crash took place near Beili village under the Kalwari police station area, where thick fog had blanketed the area, making it extremely difficult for drivers to see the road ahead. According to the police, Manish Kumar, a pick-up driver from Barijot, was critically injured in the accident and later succumbed to injuries during treatment at a local hospital. His pick-up veered off to the roadside and was left completely mangled.
Police personnel and local residents struggled for several minutes to pull him out of the wreck.
Among the vehicles involved was a car belonging to Dr Prabhakar Chaudhary, a physician at the Primary Health Centre in Bahadurpur. His vehicle sustained significant damage, though he escaped unhurt....
