LUCKNOW, Dec. 14 -- Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGI) will mark its 42nd foundation day on Sunday with a programme scheduled at 11 am in the institute's Shruti Auditorium. Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak is expected to attend as the chief guest, while state minister for medical education Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh will be the guest of honour. The Foundation Day lecture will be delivered by Dr Abhijat Chandrakant Sheth, Chairperson of the National Medical Commission, New Delhi. PGI director Prof Radha Krishna Dhiman will present an overview of the institute's academic, research and clinical activities. During the programme, a software system for online fee payment will be introduced, and the book titled "Pulse - Emergency Ultrasound Guide" will also be released. Faculty members, resident doctors and paramedical staff will be given annual awards for their work. PGI currently has 1,700 beds and caters to patients from Uttar Pradesh as well as other states.
