PGI docs guide families on brain, spine injury care
LUCKNOW, July 28 -- As part of a public initiative, SGPGI's Apex Trauma Centre is hosting free monthly sessions to help families understand and manage brain and spinal cord injuries. Now scheduled for the last Saturday of every month, these sessions by the Neuro Trauma Support Group aim to serve as a lifeline for patients and caregivers on the challenging road to recovery.
Instead of focussing solely on treatment, the programme aims to equip families with the tools, knowledge, and emotional resilience needed for long-term recovery. These sessions provide direct access to expert guidance from leading neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, and physiotherapists.
During a session on Saturday, Dr Arun Srivastava, head of the Apex Trauma Center, translated complex medical insights into practical advice for everyday care, while, Dr Ved Prakash Maurya and Dr Kamlesh Singh from the department of neurology shared practical tips on safely using medical equipment at home, helping reduce the risk of complications after discharge.
