Permanent offices of ED, IB likely in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 1 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) are likely to set up permanent offices in Prayagraj, with the ED formally seeking land from the ministry of defence for the purpose.
According to official sources, the ED has proposed to acquire around 1.5 lakh square metres of defence land in the Old Cantonment area near Teliyarganj to construct its office and residential complex.
The Indian statistics department has also applied for 1,500 square metres of land near Naya Purwa for office construction.
Defence estate officer AK Mishra confirmed that the ministry would take a final decision on land allotment. He added that the IB had not yet applied formally through the defence ministry's portal.
A joint survey of the proposed sites has already been conducted and the report will soon be sent to the defence ministry for approval, sources said, adding land allotment will be made once the ministry grants clearance.
Currently, the ED operates from the BSNL office building on Nawab Yusuf Road, while the IB functions from a rented facility in Mehdauri locality....
