Performing arts legends honoured
Lucknow, July 22 -- Three well-known figures from the world of performing arts, who studied, taught, and later retired from Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, were honoured during a special programme held at Rai Umanath Bali Auditorium on Monday.
The event, titled Padma Bhushan Dr SN Ratanjhankar Guru Samman Samaroh, was organised by the Bhatkhande Alumni Association. It aimed to celebrate the lives and work of teachers who dedicated themselves to teaching and promoting the performing arts.
Those felicitated included Kathak expert and former vice chancellor Purnima Pande, sitar maestro Abhinav Sinha, and Bharatanatyam specialist Laxmi Srivastava.
The event began with a guru vandana, composed and performed by the university's alumni. This was followed by a khayal performance by Prakhar Pandey. A flute recital by Raviraj Shankar and a Kathak dance choreographed by Meera Dixit were also presented, captivating the audience.
