LUCKNOW, Feb. 22 -- The water works (Jalkal) department of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) launched a major recovery drive in Zone-4 (Gomti Nagar and nearby areas) and disconnected the sewer connections of two private educational institutions for failing to clear long-pending water and sewer tax dues. In Gomti Nagar's Vishal Khand-1 area, a private school had Rs 50,70,456 pending water and sewer taxes dues. Officials said despite issuing multiple notices and granting sufficient time for payment, the institution did not clear the dues. The department subsequently disconnected its sewer connection.
