LUCKNOW, July 22 -- Lucknow's senior chess coach and strong tactical player, Pawan Batham OF State Tax Office won the CCBW International Chess Day Tournament hosted by Chess Club Black AND White with 6.5/7 points HERE. Veteran trainer and third seedED Sayeed Ahmad of Lucknow Chess Centre was the only one to draw with Pawan to become the senior citizens' champion with 6/7 points. The CCBW, on the occasion, also felicitated Harshit Amarnani for winning the Under-2200 section at Isola del Sole, Grado Chess Open in Italy and becoming Lucknow's highest rated player with a FIDE Rating of 2143. In a special meet and greet session Harshit signed hundreds of autographs and patiently stood for photographs for all his fans for over an hour. The other star of the tournament was ten-year-old Abhigyan Katiyar of Modern School Aliganj who stood second with 5/7 points in the open section. Katiyar almost had a winning position against Batham but blundered in time pressure. Sanjeev Kumar won the +30 unrated section with 6/7 points. Mohd Irfan (5 points), Ajit Kumar Srivastava (4 points), RP Gupta (3 points) were the top 3 in the senior citizen section. Darsh Agarwal (DPS Eldeco), Aakarshak Singh (CMS Gomti Nagar II Campus) and Arjun Chaurasia (DPS Eldeco) tied for first in the under 16 unrated section with 6/7 points. Kartik Agarwal (CMS Aliganj I) and Kastubh Mishra (St Francis) are the rising stars to watch out for, they both scored 5.5 to emerge victorious in the under-16 and under-10 section. Aman struck a fine hat-trick to help debutants Lucknow Falcon Reserve Club beat Gomti Nagar Football Club by 5-0 in the District Football League 2025, at the Chowk Stadium here on Monday. Lucknow Falcon Reserve Club were in tiotal control from the very start of the match as they scored goals on regular intervals. Aman opened the account in the 18th minute from the right flank (1-0) before netting his second one just before the half time in the 32nd minute. before Aman could net his third goal in the 55th minute, right out Anas had his first goal in the 48th minute (4-0). This wasn't all as Anas struck his second and also the final goal for the side in the 66th minute. The second match of the day between Lifa Club and Mamta Club ended in a 1-1 draw. It turned out to be cliff-hanger as the two sides continued to tussle for the ball in the middle.
