Patrolling increased in Pauri Garhwal: Official
Haridwar, July 3 -- With rise in incidents of leopard and other wild animals attacking villagers, patrolling teams have been deployed in wild animals sensitive rural areas in Pauri Garhwal. Taking cognisance of several cases of man-animal conflict in various parts of Pauri district, district magistrate Swati Bhadauria has directed forest department officials to ensure safety of local people, live stock and crops from wild animals.
"I have directed forest department officials to take a pro-active approach regarding wild animals' movement. Such prone areas need to be identified as non-sensitive, sensitive and highly sensitive areas. A wildlife death audit system will give better information and insight into real causes and ways to mitigate the man-animal confrontation," she said. htc...
