Patients' suffering extended as diagnostic tests delayed
LUCKNOW, Aug. 21 -- Patients visiting the cardiology department of King George's Medical University (KGMU) are facing difficulties in getting diagnostic tests such as TMT (Treadmill Test) and Echo done.
Despite being advised to undergo these tests, patients are being forced to turn to private diagnostic centres due to long wait times.
The cardiology department's OPD sees around 300 patients daily, and many of them are advised to undergo TMT and Echo tests.
However, patients are being given appointments for these tests after a significant delay - two days for TMT and two months for Echo, due to the existing patient .
Additionally, patients are also facing delays in getting Holter tests done.
Patient Ram Teerath, 56, has expressed frustration with the current system, citing difficulties in getting refunds if they need to get tests done elsewhere.
The refund process is reportedly complex.
Another patient, Samsuddin, 60, said patients are often forced to wait for several days at KGMU to get tests done. Some patients have opted to get their tests done at private diagnostic centres, where they can get them done quickly.
Prof KK Singh, media cell in charge, KGMU, said, "Emergency cases are handled as and when they arrive. For the outpatient department, the process will be streamlined as soon as possible."...
