Patients 'diverted' to pvt clinics from Lucknow CHC, probe ordered
LUCKNOW, March 30 -- An alleged nexus between staff and private clinics has surfaced at the Aliganj community health centre (CHC) here from where patients are being diverted to private clinics for treatment.
Agents, allegedly stationed within the outpatient department (OPD), collect patients' personal details-including names, addresses, and phone numbers-before redirecting them outside the government facility.
This triggered outrage after a video exposing the practice went viral on social media on Sunday.
It is alleged that some doctors and staff members are involved in the racket. The matter came to light during a preliminary inquiry where one of the agents reportedly admitted her involvement in the racket.
However, Dr Hemant, in-charge of Aliganj CHC, denied any formal association with private institutions. "We do not have any contractual agreement with any external institution. An inquiry has been ordered and appropriate action will be recommended against any staff found involved (in the racket," he said.
The Aliganj CHC witnesses a daily footfall of around 300 to 400 OPD patients, along with three to four deliveries. However, women patients are said to be particularly targeted, with female agents persuading them to undergo tests and treatment at private clinics....
