Passenger attacks e-rickshaw driver with knife in Pratapgarh
PRAYAGRAJ, June 26 -- An e-rickshaw driver was attacked with a knife by a youth who tried to loot him after hiring him on the pretext of bringing back his relatives, in the city area in Kunda, Pratapgarh on Tuesday night.
As the injured e-rickshaw driver cried for help and attracted the attention of the passersby, the accused fled the scene.
As per reports, Ravindra Gautam, resident of Basni Ka Purwa in Jhinjur village under Maheshganj police station area drove an e-rickshaw between Hiraganj and Kunda to earn a living. On Tuesday night at around 8.45pm, he was standing at a traffic crossing of the city when a young man arrived and hired the e-rickshaw to bring two people from Mouli village to Kunda. On the way, as per a written complaint submitted by Gautam to the police, as soon as he reached near Golaha in Mouli village, the youth seated in the e-rickshaw attacked him from behind with a knife on his neck, but somehow Gautam caught hold of his hand and fought back.
Meanwhile, the attacker got down and picked up a stone and attacked Gautam again who was already injured. Holding the youth with one hand and driving the e-rickshaw with the other hand, he quickly reached a crowded place on the roadside where a Sunder Kand was in progress.
Meanwhile, the attacker jumped off the rickshaw threatening Gautam. With the help of people, Gautam somehow reached the CHC and got his injuries treated. Later he submitted a written complaint at Kunda police station.
SHO, Kunda Avan Kumar Dixit said that there had been a fight and a complaint regarding the same had been received. Police were investigating the matter and a case would be registered thereafter....
