Participants from 52 countriesadopt 'Lucknow Declaration'
Lucknow, Nov. 24 -- Calling for immediate reforms in the United Nations, dignitaries from 52 countries unanimously adopted the 'Lucknow Declaration' at the 26th International Conference of Chief Justices of the World, organised by City Montessori School, which concluded here on Sunday.
In the declaration, more than 160 chief justices, judges and legal experts, along with other dignitaries, urged all countries to unite and take concrete steps to ensure a clean environment and a peaceful world order for future generations. Lucknow mayor Sushma Kharkwal, who was the chief guest on the final day, said, "The chief justices and distinguished guests from around the world have issued the Lucknow Declaration in complete unanimity, in accordance with the spirit of Article 51 of the Indian Constitution, aimed at promoting world unity and establishing global peace."
"This declaration will certainly help secure the rights of the coming generations and will pave the way for building a new world order," she said, releasing the Lucknow Declaration at a press conference.
The jurists resolved that they would return to their respective countries and, with the cooperation of their governments, advance this movement so that all people of the world may benefit from a new world order, according to Rishi Khanna, head, Communications, CMS.
Conference convenor and CMS manager Geeta Gandhi Kingdon expressed gratitude to the jurists, legal experts and distinguished personalities from India and around the world.
