Partial cold wave conditions likely in next 2 or 3 days
LUCKNOW, Nov. 11 -- Partial cold wave conditions are likely late at night and early morning in the next 2 or 3 days.
As the cold weather continues in Uttar Pradesh, a gentle cold wave is likely in some areas over the next two to three days, the weatherman said on Monday.
However, its effect is likely to end due to sunshine during the day. During this period, maximum day temperature in the state is also likely to remain 1 to 4degC below normal.
In Lucknow, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 28.5 and 12.6 degrees Celsius, respectively, both below normal.
The forecast for the state capital is mist during morning and clear sky later. The day and night temperature will be around 29 and 13 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Previous active Western Disturbance along with cold and dry Northwesterly Winds from the snow-covered areas of the western Himalayas, increased cooling because of clear skies, the weatherman said.
"The downward movement of cold winds over central India have resulted in a significant drop in temperatures across the state over the past few days, resulting in both day and night temperatures well below normal," said Atul Kumar Singh, senior scientist at Lucknow Met office.
Apart from gradual seasonal fall, there is no significant change in temperature during the next one week, as a result of which minimum night temperature will remain 3 to 5degC below normal on average and at some places it may go below 10degC.
On Monday, district Etawah recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 8.9 degrees Celsius, Kanpur City 9.2, Barabanki 10, Meerut 10.5, Fursatganj 11 degrees Celsius....
