Paid nothing, killers abducted, strangled farmer, burned body
LUCKNOW, Dec. 10 -- A contract to murder farmer Shiv Prakash alias Kabir, 42, reportedly went unpaid, yet he was abducted, strangled, and his body burned, Nigohan police revealed here on Tuesday. Investigators allege property dealer and mastermind Sujit Kumar Srivastava first approached his associate Dilip Rawat, offering him Rs.1.5 lakh to "arrange men" for the job.
Dilip, now absconding, roped in four local men who carried out the crime but received no payment. Five men, including Sujit, believed to be the key conspirator, have been arrested.
The killing stemmed from a dispute over a 44-biswa parcel of land along the Lucknow-Raebareli highway.
The land, part of a private development project, was valued in crores. While the elder brother had sold his share, Shiv Prakash inherited their mother's portion through a will. The elder brother later used her power of attorney to sell the land via middlemen, prompting a legal challenge. Police said the mastermind feared losing the land in court, which triggered a month-long conspiracy.
Sources said Sujit and Dilip discussed the plan for weeks, using cheap feature phones and multiple SIM cards to avoid a digital trail. Dilip gained the victim's trust over time before recruiting four local men to carry out the crime.
The suspects mapped escape routes through inter-village link roads to avoid CCTV detection, a tactic confirmed by police through vehicle movement analysis.
Police officials said the new disclosures came after sustained interrogation of the arrested men, who admitted they had been "preparing for the job" since early September. Kabir was lured to Lalpur Tower on November 15 using a trusted phone number, abducted, strangled in a moving car, and later taken to Bighapur in Unnao, where his body was burned and his phone destroyed to erase evidence....
