Over 9,000 students join statewide clean-up drive
Lucknow, Nov. 14 -- Under the Mission Shakti 5.0 initiative, the UP government organised a special campaign titled "Women's Contribution to Cleanliness" from November 10 to 13 across all Urban Local Bodies, celebrating women's pivotal role in shaping a cleaner and healthier society. Girls across UP have taken the lead in this spreading awareness through creativity and art.
What began as a poster-making competition evolved into a statewide social awakening, with over 9,000 entries pouring in from girl students across municipal corporations, municipal councils and nagar panchayats. Through their artwork, participants explored themes such as waste management, open defecation-free practices, toilet construction and use, and the broader link between cleanliness, dignity and equality.
"Cleanliness is not only about sanitation, it is about respect, responsibility, and empowerment," said additional director urban development directorate Ritu Suhas, highlighting that women have long been central to household and community hygiene efforts. htc...
