Over 1.5k horse, mule operators registered
Mussoorie, April 29 -- The animal husbandry department has, for the first time, listed 1,524 registered mules and horses' operators who have obtained medical and fitness certificates and registered their animals for the Kedarnath Dham Yatra in Rudraprayag district, officials said.
"The animal husbandry department has listed 1,524 registered mules and horses' operators who have obtained medical and fitness certificates and registered their animals for the Kedarnath Dham Yatra along with their names and mobile numbers in Rudraprayag district on Saturday for the convenience of individual, organisation, or establishment that requires horses and mules for transporting goods to Kedarnath," Dr Neeraj Singhal director animal husbandry department said.
The department has registered about 5,000 horses and mules for this year's yatra, according to officials.
"All the registered horses and mules within the district have been tested for 'Equine Influenza' and all animals have been found negative in this examination. Following this, the department has so far issued fitness certificates to approximately 5,000 horses and mules, and the process of fitness testing for other animals is also underway," chief veterinary officer Dr Ashish Rawat said....
