Over 1.57 lakh students to appear for NMMS exam on Nov 9
Prayagraj, Nov. 8 -- A total of 1,57,721 students from across Uttar Pradesh will appear for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Examination 2026-27 on November 9, officials said.
The examination regulatory authority, Uttar Pradesh, based in Prayagraj, has completed all arrangements for the smooth conduct of the exam. There will be 394 examination centres across the state's 75 districts, said Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi, secretary of the authority.
Aligarh will have the highest number of candidates, with 10,483 students appearing at 27 centres. In other districts, Kaushambi will have 5,699 students at 14 centres, Prayagraj will host 4,215 students at 10 centres. The exam was open to students who passed class 7 in the 2024-25 academic year with at least 55% marks (a 5% relaxation for SC/ST students). They must now be studying in class 8 (2025-26) in government, aided, or local body schools. Students who qualify will receive a scholarship of Rs.1,000 per month (Rs.12,000 a year) from class 9 to class 12 to support their education.
