One held after raid on medical store with banned drugs: Cops
Haridwar, June 26 -- A 35-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after a joint team of police and Drugs Department raided a medical store in Jwalapur and seized a large quantity of prohibited drugs, officials aware of the matter said.
The added that more such drugs were seized from the residence of the 40-year-old store owner who is absconding.
According to Devendra Tomar, in-charge of the Jwalapur Market police post, 50 bottles of codeine phosphate, 4,350 tablets of alprazolam, 210 tablets of tramadol, and 72 capsules of Pyeevon-Spas Plus - all of which fall under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act - were seized in the raid.
Acting on a tip-off regarding unauthorised sale and storage of banned pharmaceutical drugs, a team led by Drug Inspector Anita Bharati and officials from Jwalapur police station raided the Library Pharmacy in Mohalla Chauhanan, a sub-urban locality of Jwalapur.
Police arrested Aamir, identified as a partner in the medical store.
A second raid was carried out at the residence of the store owner Zuber Ali (40) who was not present at the time and is currently evading arrest, police said.
"A case has been registered against both Aamir and Zuber under Sections 8, 22, and 29 of the NDPS Act. While Aamir has been taken into custody, raids are ongoing to arrest Zuber," Tomar added....
